Personal Style: Why We Love Embellished Collars in 2019

With 2019 off to an amazing start, we've decided to make the most of the New Year by committing to a few good resolutions. Besides eating more greens, watching less Netflix (if that's even possible) and organizing our closets Marie Kondo style, we've made up our minds to wear more of the things we adore. There's no such thing as rockin' your favorite color too often, so why do we limit ourselves when it comes to accessories? This year, it's all about adding small doses of glam in unexpected places. And there's no better piece up for the task than the rhinestone embellished collar. 

Don't you just love it when your favorite trends become full-on wardrobe essentials? Who would have guessed that rattan handbags and the Instagram-famous Double G Gucci Belt would have rooted themselves so firmly into our daily lives? Jeweled collars first appeared ten years ago with humble beginnings in the form of necklaces or stand-up chokers that, try as you might, never quite stayed in one place. Flash forward to 2019 and we've got our collars down to a science.

“I sketch the collar in real size, then carefully glue the beads to the paper," explains Zeena CEO Bayan Jondy. "After the design is finalized, each bead is sewn by hand onto the finished collar in our workroom. I love geometric and floral designs when it comes to collars. I feel like you can’t go wrong with either."
