Bayan's Deck Makeover: How to Create a Backyard Bistro
Posted on July 01 2020

Calling all DIY diva's! Today on Zeena Uncovered, we're rolling up our sleeves and hitting the hardware store with Zeena CEO Bayan Jondy for an inspirational deck makeover that's just in time for the Fourth of July. Spruce up your deck or patio with floral planter pole lights - an easy alternative if you don't have a built-in gazebo or a picturesque yard filled with trees. When the sun starts to set on a summer evening, you'll love how these floating bistro lights transform your backyard into an atmosphere of calm and relaxation. Here's how to get started on this fun, two-day project:
What You'll Need:
- (4x) 8ft. cedar posts
- 4 planter pots
- Concrete mix
- Potting soil mix
- (2x) L-brackets
- Black spray paint
- Screws
- Mini buckle
- String lights
- Geranium flowers
Step 1: Spread out a drop cloth and spray paint the cedar poles on all sides. Let dry. Screw the two L-brackets onto the fence post flush with the bottom. Place each post into the planter pots and screw the bottom of the L-brackets into the planter securely.
Step 2: Add the concrete mix to each planter and let dry (follow the instructions on the bag). Fill them up about 3/4 of the way, leaving room for potting soil.
Step 3: Drill in the screws and add the mini buckles to the top of the posts. Two were added on one side.
Step 4: String lights through the mini buckles from post to post.
Step 5: Add potting mix on top of the concrete and add any plants you like to the planter.

Bistro lights create the perfect backdrop for a July 4th barbecue!
Voila! Place each planter around your deck, sit back and pour yourself a smoothie! Enjoy your new backyard bistro!
