On-The-Go Style: Wide Lapel Coat

Fall has always been my favorite time of year. The air is crisp and pumpkin spiced, the leaves are vibrant and colorful, but with all these crazy weather changes on the east coast, it’s getting a little tricky figuring out what to wear. I’m running back and forth between sweaters and jackets, searching for that perfect transitional piece. Have you ever opened up your closet and screamed, “OMG! I have nothing to wear?” (*Yep, that’s me on a weekly basis!). When I’m on the go, I get stuck in these boring fashion cycles where I throw on a big shirt over my jeans and walk out the door grumbling, “At least it's modest.”

With two toddlers at home, I’m naturally a huge fan of the word “effortless”. If there’s something out there that can make my life easier – and help me look good in a hurry -- count me in!

When I first saw the wide lapel coat, my jaw dropped. I had that, “I-didn’t-know-what-I-was-missing-until-I-found-you,” look in my eyes. I wanted to try it on with everything I owned. Goodbye big shirt! Hello gorgeous!

The wide lapel coat is available in three colors: ruby red, military green and black. The fabric is a smooth mixture of viscose and spandex, so it hangs beautifully right above the knee with zero cling-factor. Adding a piece like this to your wardrobe makes it SO easy to mix and match. And there aren't any pesky buttons to worry about, just a cute, adjustable sash, which you can knot (karate style) or tie into a bow.

How do you wear it?

Show off your sporty side by pairing it with a cuffed hem and sneakers. I love this silver leather satchel. It's the perfect bag that goes from a messenger to a proper purse in no time.

Dress it up with neutral heels and skinnies. Crushed velvet is popping up everywhere this season. We love how it adds a touch of sheen and softness to these otherwise plain black leggings!

If you follow the Pantone color trends, then you already know -- olive tones like military green are a MUST HAVE in your closet for 2017. With a little pop of color in your hijab (or with your accessories), you can really turn up the volume on this trendy neutral. Choose heels that blend in with the dominant color tones, like these oh-so-comfortable pumps I adore.
