What's in Your Carry-on Bag?

Welcome to the Zeena Travel Series, a 3-part journey all about travel, dining and exploring DC! As you know, winter is officially here and for those of you preparing to jet set your way to warmer climates, we’ve compiled a packing list of carry-on bag essentials to save you time and help make your trip a little easier.

Carry-On Bag Essentials

The carry-on bag is the perfect place for personal items, valuables and travel necessities that need to stay close for easy access.

First things first, you'll need a Passport Holder if you're going overseas. We recommend never taking more than one credit card with you, in case it gets stolen or misplaced. Plus, don't forget your ID and cash (including small bills for tips).

Unless you're plan on going off the grid, don’t leave home without your IPad and Air-pods! Bringing your own headphones will save you the misery of trying to buy a pair at the airport. There’s no guarantee they’ll fit you as comfortably as the ones you already own. Remember to bring a back-up charger in case you're out all day (*you’ll thank yourself later for packing that!).

The Makeup Bag

Your makeup bag is your personal pharmacy. It will hold everything you need to freshen up, from basic cosmetics to Evian Facial Mist, and heavenly pink grapefruit Neutrogena Oil-Free Makeup Remover Wipes. Tuck in a few Emergen-C Vitamin-C Packs to boost your immunity. Just add water and kick any pesky germs right out of your system! Keep your hands clean with Honest Company lavender anti-bacterial hand spray. It dries quickly and leaves your hands feeling moist, not sticky like gel sanitizers. And don't forget small, travel size containers of vitamins, pain relievers (Motrin or Excedrin), and band-aids.

What to Wear

I never travel without a scarf. The Check Print Wrap in white is large enough to double as a blanket or shawl and can be worn around the neck for a casual look.

Airports are notorious for mile-long walks and unexpected sprints. Make sure you have on the right shoes in case you need to pick up speed! We suggest the Nike Cortez Ultra Moire Sneakers.

Whenever I leave home, I hear my mother’s voice telling me, “Dress like an onion!” So true, right? I love to be able to take off layers (*or add them) because I never know if it’s going to be hot or cold. The Classic Gray Cardigan is a great neutral piece that matches everything, plus you can dress it up and wear it again for a night out.

If you’re a sensitive sleeper, pack an eye mask to block out the light during your cat naps. We love the Black Cat Eyelashes Sleep Mask by PomPon Designs on Etsy. What’s even cuter? A cozy Hoodie Pillow! Just don’t forget to take it off when you step off the plane!
