How to Beat the Heat for Teens

Here at Zeena, we're big on trends, and with one heat wave after another, it's no wonder the number one trending topic filling our inbox is, "How can I help my teen dress for the summer?" Whether she's your daughter, niece, granddaughter, or friend, we hope today's post will help you find the right outfits so the special teens in your life can survive the scorching summer days ahead.

Sometimes, you simply must go to the experts, so we enlisted the help of our very own high-school-fashionista, Amany (...and not our COO, her 16-year old niece!). Each complete look is designed to mix and match with the other so that your teen will never run out of summer favorites.

Look #1 - Lazy Sunday

Sailor stripes, baggy jeans and a pop of red is all you need to create this laid back look. When she's on the go, Amany loves to pair her tops with an Active Hijab 2.0 (usually in white or black) because the hijabs are pre-stitched and she doesn't need pins. A minimal Nike backpack can double as a swim bag for a day at the beach, and waterproof Birkenstocks are always a plus!

Look #2 - Low Key Neutrals

6. High-waisted StretchTech Cargo Joggers - Old Navy | 7. Oversized Blouse - H&M | 8. Sprite Tee - H&M | 9. Adidas Cloudfoam Pure 2.0 - Nordstrom Rack

Play things safe with low-key neutrals. If you're teen is having an, "I don't know what to wear," kind of day, a graphic tee paired with an oversized shirt is a great combination. Easy-on sneakers let her run free, and a simple, iconic bucket hat will show off her sporty side.

Look #3 - Factory Chic

For clean utilitarian style, a cute Greek fisherman's cap is a must-have! For this look, Amany layered a playful Disney graphic top over a long-sleeved striped tee. Paired with Converse boots and her go-to Old Navy joggers, all you need is a clear shoulder bag to tie it all together.

When you're out shopping with your teen, remember to make a wishlist, set a budget, and connect! Choosing the right combinations over the summer will help her know how to dress throughout the school year. Just think of your summer shopping trip as a head start!

We hoped this post inspired your teens to try a few new styles this summer! Follow our board on Pinterest: Teen Style for more ideas. See you next time!
