Personal Style: Spring Night Out
Posted on March 20 2019
Happy first day of spring! We love everything that warmer weather brings -- outdoor barbecues, cherry blossoms, bridal showers, baby showers and everything in between. But once the invitations start rolling in, it can be challenging to decide what to wear...especially when it's still cold outside. Spring is a time of transition where it could be chilly in the morning and balmy by the afternoon, but the start of a new season doesn't mean you have to pack away all your winter favorites (or dive right into your summer wardrobe). Today on Zeena Uncovered, we've got the perfect look for a spring night out that will keep you cozy and classy all day long.
If there's anything we've learned from years of styling dozens of women across the DMV -- with a bit of creative dressing -- you can mix and match your way through unpredictable weather by following three simple rules:
#1. Make a Statement
Start with a statement top and you'll instantly create a focal point for your entire look. Don't be afraid to reach for the unexpected! Add some serious 'wow factor' with shimmery sequins or choose a bold floral print. Let the colors guide your choice of accessories -- hijab, jewelry, manicure -- but keep the rest of your clothing relatively neutral. This guarantees that your top will be the center of attention.
#2. Master the Midi
There is nothing more versatile than a great khaki skirt. Dress it up, dress it down or wear it all year round. We love this cute button-up from Nordstrom Rack...and yes, it has pockets! The A-line cut and modest length are ideal for pairing with a killer pair of boots, which leads us to our final rule...
#3. Say 'Yes' to Boots
As long as there is no official expiration date, we believe in keeping your boots on rotation for as long as humanly possible...by this, we mean mid-April. Mid-calf or knee-high boots pick up where your midi leaves off, adding style and personality along the way. Besides looking chic with a matching handbag, what's not to love about being a step above the rest?
Keep these rules in mind and you will have no problem looking elegant and polished during this season of transitional weather. What are your biggest springtime fashion challenges? Let us know in the comments below!
